Description

Country of origin: European Union (Germany)

The Robur thread clippers 2038/R 4.5" (12 cm) are with stainless blades and plastic handle thread clippers with straight blades for trimming threads at the sewing machine.

This model is also available with curved blades: Robur thread clippers 2037/R 4.5" (12 cm) – bent

Thread clippers – also called ring-finger, thread or trimming scissors – are guided with only the ring finger through the single eye. The scissors rest open in the palm, the fingers stay free to work, and to cut a thread the blades are briefly squeezed together; an internal spring reopens them. The screws have a special nut lock.

Models with straight blades are for precise trimming of threads at the sewing machine (not for unpicking seams). Bent blades are used at final inspection: they reach the thread on the surface and prevent damage to the fabric. Available in ROBUSO master quality (nickel-plated or Teflon-coated and nickel-free), PELLORO quality with ball-bearing screw and a stainless ROBUR version.

Frequently asked questions

Straight or bent?
Straight blades for precise trimming of threads at the sewing machine; bent blades for final inspection, because they reach the thread on the surface without damaging the fabric.

Can I unpick seams with them?
No – thread clippers with straight blades are for trimming threads, not for unpicking seams. Weaver's or embroidery scissors are suited to that.
