The KAI N5165 is a pair of 6.5" (16.5 cm) sewing scissors made of 5Cr15MoV stainless steel (56 HRC) with straight blades, full-tang construction, an elastomer soft handle and a brass adjustment screw. With a 6.5 cm cutting length and 63 g, it is a versatile pair for the sewing table, alteration shop and smaller cutting jobs.
The sewing and embroidery scissors of the KAI N5000 Series are made for detail work at the sewing table: trimming threads, cutting back seam allowances, cutting out appliqués and embroidery. Models range from the 4" (10 cm) N5100 with an ultra-sharp point to the 6.5" (16.5 cm) N5165, each also available with a curved blade (N5100C, N5165C).
The N5135 and N5165 have 5Cr15MoV stainless steel blades (56 HRC), full-tang construction, elastomer soft handles and a brass adjustment screw. The N5100, N5100C and N5165C use 1K6 stainless steel; the N5100 and N5100C have neither an adjustment screw nor elastomer handles. The Prym Professional 611510 with purple soft handle is based on the KAI N5135.

Frequently asked questions
Straight or curved blade – what is the difference?
Curved blades (N5100C, N5165C) can be guided flat over the fabric, for example when trimming threads on embroidery or appliqués. Straight blades (N5100, N5135, N5165) are the all-round choice for the sewing table.
Which scissors are best for embroidery?
The N5100 and N5100C at 4" (10 cm) with an ultra-sharp point are made for embroidery and fine detail work. The N3160S from the N3000 Series offers a needle-like point at 6.3" (16 cm).
Can the tension be adjusted?
The N5135, N5165 and N5165C have a brass adjustment screw for readjusting blade tension. The N5100 and N5100C have no adjustable tension screw.
