The OLFA DC-2 has a metal-reinforced snapping slot that also handles extra heavy-duty 25 mm HB blades; the segments drop straight into the case. The lid, closed with a metal fitting, opens wide so that rotary blades up to 60 mm, needles, pins and glass fragments fit inside.
Dull blade segments should never go loose into the waste bin. OLFA blade disposal cases safely hold snapped-off segments and used blades: you snap the dull segment through a slot straight into the case, so no pieces fly off or lie around.
