The Robuso-Elastic tailor's shears 1055/L 9.5" are forged tailor's shears with internal spring, slim, one micro-serrated edge, gold-plated handles, 25 cm long – for smooth synthetics, curtains and silk.
Note: Discontinued item – available while stocks last.
ROBUSO-ELASTIC tailor's shears cut particularly lightly and smoothly – not for nothing are they called the shears with "power steering". A hardened internal spring sits between the blades at the screw: the blades turn on the spring instead of on each other, and a constant preload acts right to the tips. The blades are forged from C60 steel, nickel-plated outside and chrome-plated inside and out, so they are rust-protected; the handles are red/black powder-coated (L version: gold-plated).
The 1052 series has two plain edges for natural-fibre, wool and furnishing fabrics, jersey, knitwear, fine leather and furs. The 1053 and 1055 series have one micro-serrated edge that keeps smooth synthetics, curtains, silk and tarpaulin fabrics from slipping. The 1055 is the slim model with a large oblong eye for three fingers and a higher-set screw. RD versions have rounded tips.

Frequently asked questions
When do I need micro-serration?
For smooth, slippery synthetics such as curtains, silk, rayon or tarpaulin fabrics. The fine serration holds the material so the cut stays precise. For natural fibres, wool and knits the plain edges of the 1052 series are sufficient.
What does the internal spring do?
The blades do not touch at the screw but turn on the hardened steel spring. This gives a particularly light, even action – hands and arms tire less.
What are rounded tips good for?
The RD versions with rounded tips can be carried safely in a coat pocket and do not damage material or table when cutting.
